JEDDAH, 19 May — Two government employees in Qassim were punished after they were found guilty of wagering on one of them to walk naked inside their office, Al-Watan newspaper reported yesterday.
An official source at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs told the Arabic daily that the incident took place at a Social Insurance office last Ramadan.
One of the men promised to pay SR100 to his colleague if he stripped himself and walked around the office premises, the source said.
The man did remove his dress and won the bet. However, the ministry ordered five days’ pay to be cut from his salary after a probe into the incident. His colleague will also lose five days’ pay.
The source said the two men deserved a harsher punishment for their shameless behavior at the work place.
Fake bank notes
In Dammam, security officers arrested two brothers for purchasing gold using forged currency, Al-Watan reported. Police said the two teenagers bought gold worth SR20,000 from a jewelry shop in the Dammam Central Market.
“While counting the money, the shop owner found out that the notes were fake, but the two youths escaped with the gold in their car,” the paper said. Police later arrested them while driving along the Dammam-Kuwait Road.
Meanwhile, security officers in Qunfuda foiled an attempt to smuggle five Somali illegals to Jeddah in the boot of a car on Thursday. The driver of the car had collected SR350 from each of the overstayers for taking them to Jeddah.
