RIYADH, 19 May — The winners of Sword Awards, instituted by the Saudi Research & Publishing Company to promote innovation in advertisement, will receive their prizes at a colorful ceremony at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 27.
“The function will be attended by prominent media figures, advertising agents and a large number of businessmen,” a company statement said.
The event coincides with an open and free training course for promoting innovation in advertisement. The course, according to the statement, will focus on the latest technology used in media and advertising field.
SRPC established the prize in 1993 to raise the standard of advertisements in the print media in the Kingdom. It was later expanded to cover all sections of the media in the Gulf Cooperation Council member states.
The award now covers advertisements in print media, radios, televisions and advertising publications. Various media and public service campaigns and hoardings placed along the roads are also considered.
The company awards golden swords to the advertising agency and the advertiser of the winning entries.
SRPC also offers free advertisement space worth SR130,000 in its publications to the first prize winner. Advertisements nominated for the prize are of Gulf origin.
