JEDDAH, 23 May — The Jeddah chapter of Kerala-based Muslim Education Society (MES), organized the second phase of its talent search contest when scores of students from three international schools took part in an essay writing and general knowledge test on Friday. The test was simultaneously conducted for girls at Al-Wurood International School and for boys at Al-Hayat International School. Contestants belonged to these two schools and also International Indian School, Jeddah. The test included essay writing, written quiz and geography. The subjects for the essay were “Global warming or Internet for education” for senior students of grades 10-12, and “Deforestation or Influence of visual media, especially TV, on education” for junior students grades 7-9. Forty-eight of the winners divided into four groups — two each of boys and girls in senior and junior categories will take part in an extempore speech contest on May 25. The finalists will appear for an interview with a panel of judges on June 1 for this year’s best talents in senior and junior grades of boys and girls. IISJ Director Brig. Iqbal Siddiqui inaugurated the second phase at Al-Wurood, while IISJ Management Committee Chairman Abdul Rahim performed the inauguration at Al Hayat School. Those present at Al Wurood included Dr. Ansari Baker, V.P. Muhammad Ali, V. Muhammad Ali, Dr. M. Mohsin, K. Abdul Rasheed, and C.P. Saleem, MES local chapter secretary who conducted the proceedings. Present at Al-Hayat included IISJ Principal S.S.U. Tabrez and MES Jeddah chapter President Dr. Abdullah Moopan.
