JEDDAH, 23 May  — Sahebzadi Jamilunnissa Begum, who has brought out Saudi Arabia’s architectural splendor through her drawings, sketches and paintings, is taking part in the upcoming Jeddah festival 1422H. She will be exhibiting 50 pieces of her artwork for a week during the one and a half month long festival starting from early June. “Saudi Arabia and Islamic architecture” are the central theme of her art exhibition. She showed her interest in sketching and painting when she was barely six years old, and participated in a number of exhibitions when she studied at the International Indian School, Jeddah. Over the last few years she has provided artworks depicting the Kingdom’s traditional lifestyle and buildings. She has also sketched some of the historic structures in the two holy cities. Her solo art exhibition titled “the Kingdom past and present” was held at the Saudi German Hospital auditorium during Saudi Arabia’s centenary celebration in March 1999. “Sketching and painting are my hobby and not a profession,” says Jeddah-born Jamilunnisa who is currently pursuing her ‘A’ level IGCSE course at the Jeddah International School.
