JEDDAH, 23 May  — Makkah police arrested a group of African overstayers a few days ago after they received complaints from residents about disturbances created by lawless people in their neighborhood. Residents in Jabal Ghurab area complained that drunken people wander the streets during late hours of the night and harass them after knocking at their doors.

When officers from the Mansour police station went to the area to investigate the complaint, the illegals faced up to them for a fist fight. Two of the officers were beaten up as their colleagues moved away to bring reinforcements.

Two police squads were immediately put on the chase of the Africans who ran and hid on the Ghurab Mountain.

A team led by Captain Marzoug Al-Zaidy trapped two of the suspects while residents in the area helped the police to capture the rest of the group. They were being questioned at the Mansour police station.

Captain Salem Al-Zahrani said some of the policemen suffered minor injuries during the fist fight.
