RIYADH, 1 January — Prince Naif ibn Mamdouh ibn Saud has called upon Muslims to make use of the Internet to spread the true message of Islam.

He made the comments during a recent visit to the headquarters of Darussalam Printers and Publishers, which brought out 150 Islamic books in English, Arabic, Urdu and European languages.

Speaking on the best way to promote a correct understanding of Islam, Prince Naif said Muslim preachers should imbibe the true spirit of Islam and practice its teachings in their personal life.

"They should also have thorough knowledge of Islam before they share it with others," he said. The prince also observed that Muslims should strive to stay on the righteous path and cultivate good conduct.

Prince Naif commended the efforts of Darussalam Publishers in the service of Islam, especially the role being played by Muhammad Abdullah Al-Moatazz, supervisor general of the company, and Abdul Malik Mujahid, its general manager.

New Qur'an translation

A new four-color edition of the meaning and interpretation of the Holy Qur'an has been released here. "The Interpretation of the Meanings of the Noble Qur'an", translated by Dr. Muhammad Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali and Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan of the Islamic University in Madinah.

It is published by Darussalam Publishers and Distributors and printed in Italy.

The late Sheikh Abdul Aziz ibn Baz, the former grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, and Omar Muhammad Falata, secretary-general of the Islamic University of Madinah, certify the authenticity of the translation.

A distinctive feature of the latest edition is the simplicity of the language in modern English with none of the old style usage. Relevant Ahadith are also quoted explaining the Qur'anic verses. (J.H.)
