RIYADH, 13 January — Prince Naif Academy for Security Sciences will start four courses in forensice tests at the academy’s headquarters here today .
First of the courses, to be conducted by academy’s training institute, will titled “detection of narcotics.” The course aims to develop skills of officers in anti-narcotic agencies, customs and the National Guard to identify drugs.
The second course is on means to identify and match finger prints. The course will teach the participants the basic principles about using fingerprints in criminal investigations.
Methods of taking DNA samples from the scene of a crime and analyzing them will be covered in the third course. The participants will get instructions on body fluids and ways to take samples and preserve them for investigation purposes. The participants will also be trained on the handling of various types of microscopes.
Video photography of an accident scene will be another topic. In addition to Saudi Arabia, trainees from Arab countries such as Sudan, Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman will participate in the course. (SPA)
