JEDDAH, 13 June — Interesting topics of high relevance to the Filipino community in Jeddah will be discussed by a roster of knowledgeable speakers at a forum hosted by Kasapi to be held today.
Part of the Philippine Independence Day celebration, the OFW Forum will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. at the office of the labor attaché in the Philippine Consulate.
Consul General Kadatuan Usop is to discuss an “overview” of Philippine-Saudi relations, Labor Attaché Abraham Malli will talk about the Saudization program and its effects, and OWWA Welfare Officer Mustapa Glang will discourse on “OFW Reintegration in the Context of the Migrant Workers Act of 1995 (RA 8042).”
Vice Consul Angelo Amonoy will then tackle the subject of “The Role of Government Agencies in the OFW Reintegration Program,” followed by an open forum.
Rudy Dianalan and Gil Manese, Kasapi secretary-general and past chairman, respectively, will serve as moderators.  Kasapi stalwart Gerry Cuares will give the opening remarks.
Now under the chairmanship of Romeo “Boy” Buayan, the Kasapi hopes to revive open discussions of the community’s pressing concerns, with a view to formulating a common position that could then be forwarded to the appropriate policy-making bodies in the Philippines. (A.N.)
