RIYADH, 27 January — The anti-begging offices under the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs have arrested about 8,600 beggars in 50 days, according to a report carried by Al-Jazirah newspaper. It said that among the arrested beggars 1,807 were Saudis and the rest expatriates. The ministry said its recent anti-begging campaign was successful as it helped reduce the number of beggars in the country to the minimum. (A.N.)
