JEDDAH, 21 June — The Islamic Education Foundation in Al-Hamra launched here today its “Caravan of Prosperity” following its big success last year.

The caravan, flagged off by Jeddah Governor Prince Mishal ibn Majed, will tour the city during the summer festival asking the public questions on Islam and general knowledge and hand out gifts to winning participants.

“We found this a new and effective way of propagating the religion,” said a foundation official. Over 16,000 people benefited from the project last year.

The caravan, which carries the slogan of “Happiness for All,” will stop at big shopping malls and the Corniche.

Prince Mishal commended the idea of the caravan and wished the IEF all success in its effort. “Last year there were 75 programs for the summer festival, and this year we have 109. This clearly confirms the success of the festival,” he said.

“Tourism is a great support to the economy of the country. Therefore, there has to be cooperation between the citizens to provide a more conducive atmosphere to encourage it,” said Prince Mishal.

The launching ceremony ended with the governor and Osama Al-Khereiji, board member of IEF exchanging mementos.
