JEDDAH, 30 June  — Polaris has won the first Jeddah 22 Jetski final. Driven by former Sea-Doo racer Talal Al-Sam’an, his unmodified Polaris PRO 785 machine clearly dominated both the slalom racing and time trials.

Up against modified Sea-Doo and Yamaha Jetskis driven by some of Jeddah’s most experienced racers, Talal put 10 lengths of clear water between himself and the fastest Sea-Doo GSX ridden by Mazin Owais in the final race. The earlier slalom time trails were again won by Talal, with his brother Waleed, also driving a PRO 785, coming a close second. Talal’s winning time of 18 seconds was two seconds faster than the third-placed modified Yamaha GP1200 of talented racer Majed Al-Gutmi.

The event was held on Wednesday at Nawrus village on the Corniche and will be followed by similar events over the coming weeks. (AN)
