BURAIDAH: Qassim Gov. Faisal bin Mishaal launched on Friday the second edition of the Palm Harvest Initiative in Shimasiya governorate.
The prince stressed that the initiative comes within the efforts exerted to provide job opportunities for Saudi citizens.
He also thanked the businessman Ali Al-Hammad who supported the initiative by enabling young people to train on harvesting dates on his farm.
The governor called on government and private entities to support young people who practice the profession of palm harvesting so as to continue to localize this profession and find job opportunities for them.
The Buraidah Date Festival was launched by Qassim’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in partnership with Qassim Municipality, the Culinary Arts Commission and the National Center for Palms and Dates.
The ministry’s director general, Abdulaziz Al-Rajehi, said that Qassim governor has “given great attention” to the month-long festival, which is showcasing more than 45 kinds of dates.

The event will also feature scores of activities and marketing schemes to promote Qassim’s date industry.
