JEDDAH, 13 August — A flag hoisting ceremony will be held at the Consulate General of India 7.45 a.m. on Wednesday to mark India’s 54th independence anniversary. Consul General Syed Akbaruddin will hoist the flag. Later at 9:00 a.m. the consul general and his wife Padma Akbaruddin will attend the Independence Day function at International Indian School, Jeddah. The day will be observed in Yanbu, at Hotel Holiday Inn at 7.30 p.m., with O.P. Aggarwal, consul for community welfare, as the chief guest. On Thursday Asir Indian Association will host a cultural program comprising patriotic songs, poems, instrumental music, fancy dress and speeches at Shakir Villa Compound, Khamis Mushayt.
