DAMMAM, 19 August — A teacher at the Indian school here has been selected by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi for its best-teacher award for the year 2000.
Mariyu Sageer, a science teacher at the International Indian School-Dammam, was chosen for the coveted award “in recognition to her valuable contributions in the field of education,” a school statement said.
Minister for Human Resources Murali Manohar Joshi will present the award to the recipient at a function in New Delhi on Sept. 4. The award includes a citation and a cash prize of 10,000 rupees (SR800).
A mother of four, Sageer hails from Kodungallur in the south Indian state of Kerala. She has been with the school for the past 18 years and is presently the headmistress of the upper primary section.
