RIYADH, 23 September — The board of directors of the Riyadh-based Pakistan International School has announced a new package of benefits to its employees, including teachers. The package includes life insurance coverage for all PISR staff, grant of service awards and free medical coverage.
Addressing the PISR teachers and employees, Dr. Shahid Nawaz Malik, chairman of the school’s board of directors, said that the total amount of the life insurance coverage to be paid to an insured employee on death while working for PISR is SR50,000. The annual premium of SR1,700 under this insurance plan for each teacher will be paid by the school.
The management has also decided to pay gratuity as per the provisions of the labor laws, and a maximum ceiling of SR75,000 has been set.
Dr. Malik said SR500 will be paid as qualification allowance if a teacher obtains a Ph.D while serving the school and SR300 for M.Phil.
The board has also decided to bear the fees for iqama renewal and exit/re-entry charges for the teachers and their dependents. An employee will be entitled to four economy class tickets, only by PIA.
A cross-section of parents contacted by Arab News yesterday expressed their happiness on learning the new incentives announced by the management. However, they suggested that the board of directors should work out an immediate plan to shift the location of the school, where traffic remain miserably clogged during the week days.
The PISR is located in Nasseriya district, where it has hired a cluster of buildings to run classes. A much publicized plan to build an SR60 million new campus for the school has remained a distant dream until today.
