US Embassy tightens visa rules

JEDDAH, 1 October — The US Embassy in Riyadh has imposed rigorous conditions for the issue of visa to Saudis who wish to visit US, Okaz newspaper reported yesterday. The visa applicant should appear in person at the embassy with an introductory letter from his employer and a bank statement. He should also bring any earlier passports. The number of visa issued in the past two weeks has fallen considerably. These conditions are the same as those in force for expatriates in the Kingdom who wish to visit US. The multi-visa period for Saudi nationals is two years.
