RIYADH, 3 October — Border guards have seized 1,450 kilos (3,190 pounds) of hashish in the southern province of Najran, the Saudi Press Agency said. An undisclosed number of drug dealers were arrested. Police also seized 650 kilos (1,430 pounds) of qat, a narcotic banned in Saudi Arabia but widely used in Yemen. Saudi border police regularly arrest drug dealers who attempt to cross the borders from the south.
