Ambassador lauds students, teachers

DAMMAM, 13 October — Indian Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad, speaking at the 19th Foundation Day Ceremony of the International Indian School here yesterday, congratulated the students and staff of the school and called it his favorite Indian institution in the Kingdom.

"The development and growth of this particular school is always a matter of interest to me," he said.

The ambassador referred in passing to a land scam involving a former member of the managing committee and said that the school had won the resulting court case.

"But this is not sufficient. We want the school money back," he added.

The ambassador affirmed that the embassy was always ready to help the school.

The school managing committee chairman, Dr. S.V.R. Rao, gave a brief history of the school and said that it now has 8,600 students and more than 400 teachers.

The school principal, Muhammad Anwar, also gave teachers the credit for the extraordinary results. However, he lamented the congested classrooms, and called upon students to reject materialistic values.

Later, the ambassador and his wife, Sunita Ahmad, gave away prizes to teachers, meritorious students and those who had excelled in sports. This was followed by a series of cultural and musical events.
