Iraqi smugglers fined $62,000

JEDDAH, 21 October — A customs committee at Arar border post with Iraq has fined 21 Iraqis a total of $62,000 for smuggling drugs, liquor, arms and sheep, a newspaper reported yesterday. The committee also ordered the confiscation of some 3,730 sheep and the destruction of hundreds of bottles of liquor and pills, Al-Bilad daily said. The Iraqis were caught in groups by the border guards for intruding into the Kingdom with contraband materials.
