Officer honored for heroic act

RIYADH, 10 November — Interior Minister Prince Naif has ordered the promotion of Nawaf ibn Mahdi Al-Abdali, a civil defense officer in Makkah Province, to a higher rank as a mark of appreciation after he rescued a man and his wife from a house fire at Al-Kaakiya in Makkah. The fire-fighting official undertook the rescue operation despite the fact that it was his day off. .This was announced by the director general of the civil defense Col. Saad ibn Abdullah Al-Towaijeri, who congratulated Mahdi for winning this honor and expressed his hope that the heroic act of this officer would set a good example for other officials. (SPA)
