DAMMAM, 16 November — A new Filipino community group in the Eastern Region has recently been given accreditation by the Philippine Embassy and its POLO-OWWA extensions.
The Overseas Negrenses (O.N.), whose members are from Negros Occidental, is the 18th to become a member of the so-called Accredited Community Partners (ACPs) of the embassy. ACPs are supposed to help the Philippine mission in carrying out its outreach programs to OFWs in the Central and Eastern Region.
Labor Attaché Jainal Rasul and Supervising Welfare Officer Sotero Tornea signed a memorandum of agreement with the Overseas Negrenses represented by its founding president Virgilio Montero during the Filipino Community Day celebration held at the Prince Muhammad Ibn Fahad Amusement Park in Dammam.
Consul Ezzedin Tago, who represented Ambassador Rafael Seguis, was witness in the signing ceremony.
The founding members of the group are Cyril Agudo, Nelson Ambos, Noel Ambos, Fe Rosario Antequino, O’Brien Artesano, Francisco Baltazar, Gilbert Biantan, Hernando Borra, Vicente dela Cruz, Rolando Dugeno, Arthur Esmade, Ludovico Estruche, Samson Guevarra.
Ambrosio Gupalor, Roberto Jamison, Edwin Lumanang, Leo Lumanang, Wilfredo Lumawag, Arlene Montero, Arman Montero, Arnaldo Montero, Dario Recuelo, Gene Rivera, Lawrence Uy, Elmer Villa, Joe Villena, and Mar Yanong.
The Jubail-based group aims to expand its membership among natives of Negros Occidental in the Kingdom and worldwide.
“Our objective is to keep a common goal in extending help to our members and as well as to offer basic health and other humanitarian services primarily to the indigents of the underdeveloped areas in Negros Occidental,” Montero said.
Negros Occidental is one of the two provinces on the island of Negros in the central Visayas. Most of its residents are Cebuano speakers. The other province, Negros Oriental, has a largely Ilonggo population.
