RIYADH, 17 November — Six members of a Saudi family were killed on Wednesday when their car collided with a truck on the road from Hafr Al-Baten to Kuwait, 500 kilometers north of Riyadh.
The vehicle caught fire after colliding with the truck and the six casualties were burned to death, Okaz daily reported.
Five Nigerians were also killed and 30 Nigerian and Pakistani workers injured, some seriously, in two separate traffic accidents on the Taif road, some 1,000 km southwest of Riyadh.
One accident occurred on the Taif-Hawiya Road involving 24 Pakistani workers of the Faqeeh Poultry Farm.
Saudi Red Crescent volunteers rushed to scene soon after the accident and transported the injured to King Faisal Hospital in Taif.
The second accident killed five Nigerians and injured six others when their minibus overturned at a dangerous curve in Taif after one of its front tires exploded. The Nigerians were returning from Shafa, a tourist resort.
According to Al-Jazirah newspaper, four of them died instantly, while the fifth victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Saudi Arabia has one of the world’s highest rates of road accidents.
