JEDDAH, 5 December — Officials from the Jeddah mayor’s office have seized 6,000 sex stimulants — including chewing gum — that arouses women, and special acupuncture needles that are said to be used to cure male impotence.
The shops which sold the goods illegally were fined up to SR5,000. The seized items also included contraception pills. Most of the medicine carried invalid expiry dates, said Adil Fadda, director of the market management department in the municipal office.
The department intensified its inspection in response to repeated complaints from the public. The price of the medicine, which was smuggled to the Kingdom by Asian nationals, ranged from SR30 to SR50, while the needles fetched SR360.
