JEDDAH, 7 December — A study of the Jeddah traffic department has revealed 15,000 traffic violations involving running red lights were recorded in the governorate over eight weeks between the middle of October to the middle of November. In the same period, 20,000 violations of mandatory safety belt regulations and 10,000 cases of speeding were also recorded. Officials also observed violations such as the other passengers in the car not securing safety belts and private cars taking passengers for money, said Col. Abdul Aziz Al-Obailan. The violations were mostly detected by cameras and plainclothes police.
