RIYADH, 27 December — Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Muhammad Al-Jarallah has signed contracts worth a total of SR420 million for the implementation of a number of development projects in various parts of the country.
The contracts in the Riyadh region included the development of the Wadi Hanifa at a cost of SR9.97 million. Work on the project has to be completed in three and a half years. Another contract is for the SR35.31 million Dawadami sewage project, to be completed in three years.
A contract was also signed for implementation of the first phase of the rainwater drainage system in Jeddah. Work on the project, estimated to cost SR80.98 million and one of the major contracts awarded in the Western Province, has to be completed in two years and four months.
The minister signed two contracts for the construction of separate cleaning projects each worth SR48 million in the eastern and western parts of Taif, to be completed in three years.
The contracts in the Madinah region included a SR3.11 million project for maintenance of the squares in Madinah for three years.
A contract worth SR3.99 million for asphalt work, paving and lighting of roads in Hanakiya governorate has also been signed. The contract period is three and a half years. A similar project in the governorate is worth SR10.43 million and has to be completed in three years. The asphalt work of the Al-Mahd road is to be completed in three and a half years and is worth SR11.47 million while the contract for construction of a road connecting Al-Maylih with Al-Ushaira is awarded for SR12.29 million. The major contracts signed in the Eastern Province included a SR4.94 million project to replace old electric posts in Jubail within a period of 21 months. The contract for maintenance of the green lawns and trees on Alkhobar beach for a period of three years has been awarded for SR3.99 million. Another contract in the region — asphalting roads and constructing streetlights in Al-Maliga town — was awarded for SR 5 million. The project has to be completed in 21 months.
The contracts signed in Baha region included a water supply scheme in Baljurashi at SR6.8 million for a period of two years. The contract for asphalting roads in Kilwa governorate, which has to be completed in two years, has been signed for SR3.59 million.
Two projects to asphalt roads in Samira town were awarded at SR4.48 million and SR4.38 million. Work has to be completed within two years. The first phase of a project to build protective barriers in Adraya town against flash floods is worth SR5.45 million. The work will be completed in a year.
Two contracts to asphalt roads in Daumat Al-Jundal in two years were signed for SR7.38 million.
The projects for the Northern Province included a water supply scheme worth SR890,000 and a SR9.28 million contract to construct a park in Arar town.
Two contracts were signed for Jizan province — a sewage project worth SR10.65 million and asphalting of streets for SR5.27 million in Samita town.
