DAMMAM, 27 December — The Industrial Security Police at Saudi Aramco found a dead body floating in the sea near the Marjan 3 oil field off the coast of Al-Safwaniyah in Al-Khafji on Monday.
The body drifted in the sea late Monday night as Aramco and Border Guards considered whether the unidentified body did or did not fall under their jurisdiction. The Eastern Naval fleet in Jubail also failed to pick it up.
Describing the features of the body, a source at the Industrial Security force said one of its legs had been amputated while its facial features had been totally obliterated. The body had turned white, which meant it had probably been in the water for a long period of time, probably for some days. The clothes on the body were blue, the source added. The control room at Aramco received a call from a barge saying that it had come across a dead body floating at noon Monday. A team was sent to identify it, but was instructed not to remove the body from the water. The team subsequently reported back to the Border Guards.
An official at the Border Guards in Khafji said the location of the body did not fall in its jurisdiction and therefore the matter was reported to the Eastern Naval Fleet in Jubail.
A Bahraini family has reported missing a relative, who went to sea a few day ago.
Members of the family are expected to come to the Kingdom to see if the body is his.
