Libby’s Hot Line corner award: BBG

JEDDAH, 28 December — Consistency was the rule of the game in the 23rd week of the BBG Tuesday Night League played at the Jeddah Bowling Center.

The consistency of upcoming Class "C" bowler Lino Traquina with his pendulum swing and in spinning his urethane reactive 15-lb ball powered Libby’s Hot Line in cornering the 23rd Team of the Week award dubbed the first in the second round robin. His impressive performances and the assists of Nick Suing, Mar Narvasa and Jimboy Almoro propelled Libby’s Hot Line to score a total of 81.5 points.

When the games blasted off to commence the start of the second round robin, Top Gun quartet of Ruben Medina, Bert Tuvera, Leo Edejer and Rudy Valenzuela immediately bombarded the lanes with their accurate shots, scored a 4-man team series of 928 to snatch the maximum 22 points.

Pitted against Al Ahadal Establisment, the quartet lost control of the game when they merely scored 8 points (765) on the final stretch. With 19 bonus points (2553), Top Gun collected only 66 points.

Al Ahadal, cold from the start (11 points), accelerated on the second game (18) and scored high on the final set with 21 points. The 2511 series of Ramis Ayoub, Zaldy Farinas, Mishal Hamdi and Talal Al Twairib that posted 18 points, past Top Gun in the overall tally by two points (68).

Abudawood Trading was sizzling in the first two matches, scored 21 points at the start (875) and another 21 points (899) on game two. At the final bend, however, Hero Garcia, Emil Payongayong, Sebz Tristeza and Felix Julaton swept 785 pins and earned only 9 points. Although their series of 2559 collected 20 points, Abudawood settled to only 71 points after the disastrous game on the third set.

Sarawat Aces were also unstoppable at the beginning. Rally Zamora (236), Igna Salgado (213), Odjie Sagcal (186) and Jun Cabaral (249) drilled a series of 931 including handicap and snatched the maximum 22 points on the second game after an encouraging 20 points at the start.

At their final encounter with D"Amigos, the four "aces" of Sarawat met walls of splits and toppled down only 800 pins for 13 points. Their total earnings went up to 77 points when all the series were tapered down, Sarawat has 2604 (22 points).

Libby"s and Guess? posted identical scores (841) on different pair of lanes, each earned 18.5 points on the first game.

On the second game, Lino Traquina (225), Nick Suing (218), Mar Narvasa (219) and Jimboy Almoro (164) bulldozed 895, including the team handicap of 69. Their best shots produced 20 points. Suing (236), Traquina (212), Narvasa (202) remained consistent on their pendulum swing and they went dazzling on the final stretch. Though Almoro had miserable game (143), Libby’s surprisingly grabbed the 22 maximum points at a total of 862. Their series of 2598 was equivalent to 21 points.

Lino Traquina, with a handicap of 26 pins per game, snatched the bowler of the week award at a total score of 715 pinfalls. His scratch scores were 200, 225 and 212.

Front-runner Al Alamiah Insektos of BBG honcho Arnold Alday was also consistent with their average games, scored 61 points during the week and remained to lead the pack of 22 powerhouse teams.

Talal Al Twaireb of Abudawood Trading submitted his third entry card to the BBG Elite Club, scored 264 on the third game. Tony Pasion of D"Amigos (268) and Randy Mata of KKB (269) were the two new entrants to the Club.

Leo Pangilinan of N-Ball team and Nick Suing of Libby"s Hot Line were the winners of special prizes for converting into spare the 4-7-10 splits. Pancho Cuevas of ????! team was the lone winner of the Sakuna special prize.

Edu Toledo of SkyFreight Forwarders and Hero Garcia of Abudawood Trading were winners of tract suits courtesy of Al Amoudi Sports Center thru general manager Abdulrahman Al Amoudi.

National Commercial Bank sponsors the league thru corporate public relations director Farouk Eid and public relations officer Hussein Ahmed Ali.
