Traco Green skim Saudia Milk while Traco down IDB

JEDDAH, 11 January — Traco Green scored a nail-biting one wicket win over Saudia Milk with 2 balls to spare whereas Traco scored a 5-wicket win over IDB in the 6th week of the Kanoo League (Premier Division) organized by JCL.

In another match, Mahmood Saeed openers went on to rampage to score 301 for no loss in 33 overs to give their team a 53 runs win over Young Athlete.

Saudia Milk met their Waterloo at the hands of Traco Green in an exciting win. Saudia Milk scored 238 runs for 9 in 35 overs. Although the top order scored runs at will with Javed (51), Amer (38), Imran (40), Anees (32) and Shaker (30) raised the platform for a big total but the lower order just caved in from 214 for 3 to 238 for 9. Faisal and Irfan picked up 3 and 2 wickets respectively.

In reply, Tracpo Green lost early wickets and were reduced to 36 for 3 with Anees Malik picking up 3 for 43. However, Shehzad batted with authority and assurance and scored a superb 65 runs and was given admirable support from Baber (38), Faisal (25) and Tariq (34). Saudia Milk bowlers Azam and Ifthekhar who picked up 2 wickets each struck with vengeance and reduced Traco Green to 227 for 9. However, the last pair showed grit and determination to reach the target of 239 for 9 with 2 balls to spare.

Batting first, IDB managed to put a reasonable score of 272 for 6 in 35 overs. Opener Raees scored an impressive 65 runs and was given good support by Fayyaz (52), Jawwad (43) and Asif (32). Khalid Saeed picked up 3 for 39. In reply, IDB bowlers bowled a fine line and strength to reduce Traco to 52 for 3 with Faisal Butt (21), Khalid Butt and Waseem out in quick succession. But hereafter Rashed and Azeem batted solidly and impressively to blunt the edge of the IDB bowlers.

Rashed played the bowlers on merit and scored a solid 85 runs with 6 fours whereas Azeem who was the more aggressive tore apart the IDB bowlers with some powerful shots all over the field. Azeem scored a brilliant 115 runs, and the two put on 208 runs for the 4th wicket before Rashed was dismissed. Traco ended at 274 for 5 in 32.2 overs to romp home by 5 wickets.

Abdullah bowled well and took 2 for 32 but did not get support from the other bowlers.

Mahmood Saeed openers entered the record books as they scored 301 for no loss in 33 overs and declared the innings closed.

Kashif Mubasher and Rashid Butt both scored superb centuries with Kashif the more severe scored an unbeaten 146 runs with 13 fours and 2 sixes whereas Rashid who also remained unbeaten with 108 runs hit 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Young Athlete tried as many as 8 bowlers but their luck was too bad as they failed to pick up a wicket. In reply, Young Athlete chasing a losing battle nevertheless scored 248 for 8 with Humayun leading the way scoring 72 runs after their team was reduced to 88 for 6.

With support from Amir (23), Amjad (22), Abid (20) Humayun managed to take the Athlete’s to 195 for 8. Thereafter the 9th wicket pair of young Shoaib and veteran Shahid Amin (26 n.o) made a further fight to take their team to 248 for 8 before the overs ran out.

Farooq and Mehfooz took 2 wickets each as Mahmood Saeed the only unbeaten team so far won by 53 runs.
