Marquez sparkles as Cuadro claim honors: STBC

RIYADH, 18 January — Finally, Cezar Marquez make his dream come true when he emerged as the last week individual best player when he bagged the coveted bowler of the week award. The heroics of Marquez lifted the Cuadro team to emerge as the Team of the Week honoree on the 26th week of the STBC, 17th Conference Sunday Family Bowling League at the bowling alleys of the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.

Marquez posted a four game series of 818 points while the Cuadro bowling team sealed 26 big points to blank their opponent, the RB Lanekings on lanes 7 and 8. Also grabbing the limelight in the Cuadro team was the fast rising Tess "Ina" Jose who toppled a four-game series of 782. Atoy "kabo" Malubay and Rene Estrada sizzled to post a separate series of 740 and 721 in four matches. Dante Cambare contributed 548 series in three games.

Leo Estacio and Danny Gacutan was top scorer in the RB Lanekings with a separate four-game series of 803 and 786. Danny Paredes tallied a series of 663 while Diony Mabanto rolled a series of 536 in three games. Ted Anis, Jr. collected a series of 343 in two outings. The RB Lanekings, captained by Rudy Dawis, collected 3 points.

The Inevitable and the ABB Tribe recorded a separate impressive wins against the heavy favorite, the Controllers and the Megavolts teams by posting an identical 25 points. Ronnie Cayde shot a series of 782 to lead in the Inevitable squad. American Pauline Kambouries followed Cayde with a series of 766. Oca "Angelo" Bernabe and Arnel Garlan submitted a series of 762 and 742 in four games. Fe Cayde added 739 pinfalls in four sets.

Ed Esmana and Rico Feria topscored in the Controllers team with a series of 792 and 710, respectively. Romy Liggayu and Abe Abulencia scored a series of 648 and 601 in four games. Prima Abulencia toppled a series of 415 in two games and Susan Sarmiento collected a series of 393 in two games. The Controllers team pocketed 18 points.

The ABB Tribe mentored by Aurel Farinas registered overall total team output of 3856 pinfalls through the good games of Ace Sulit who toppled a series of 809. Rita Sison and Mel Solas came-in next with a series of 788 and 778 in four games. Joey Morales fired a serie sof 736 while Farinas carded a series of 615 in three games.

For the Megavolts team, leading scorers were Ed Acosido (782), Laura Ringor (771) and Bert Bantillan (714). Lito Junio rolled a series of 510 in three games and Caloy Palenzuela had 375 series in two games.

The Track Enforcer team of Raul Medina brushed aside the Power Grip team (19-5). At helm in the Track Enforcer was Medina with 778 series, followed by Alma "Angeline" Lee with a series of 761. The energetic Egai Asuncion garnered a series of 718. Reden "Clarence" Tulabut knocked-down a series of 584 in three games while Eymard Dimayuga posted a series of 537 in three outings.

Donjie Mapalad and Rodel Catanghal led in the Power Grip by posting a separate four game series of 728 and 715. Danny Peralta and Marcy "Patricia" Andaya submitted a series of 692 and 679. Benny Quebral got 329 series in two games.

The undisputed league leader, the Stinger team walloped the Barkada (14-11). The trios of Eddie Eder, Bonnie Dedicatoria and Art Palustre burned the lanes to topscore in the Stinger team by posting a separate four game series of 769, 723 and 716. Boy Fogata and the newly crowned OFWBR/Aloy Mier one-day farewell champion, Ellen "Feliciti" Bernabe submitted a separate series of 679 and 678 in four sets, respectively.

Cornering limelight in the Barkada team was Ernee Noto with 797 pinfalls, followed by Nino Fajutagana (752), Toom Sriprom (72), Rudy Pranga (688) and Lito Regalado (677). The Barkada quintet collected total team output of 3643.

The Philippine Embassy upset the Sabbnet (14-13) and showing the way in the Philippine Embassy team are Willie de Mesa (778) and Arlene Arenas (763). Willie de Mesa pinned-down a series of 729. Neil Gafur and Jun Arenas scored a series of 688 and 639. Jun Jabonero, Francis Guron and Rey Dela were on top in the Sabbnet with a series of 791, 723 and 704. Santi Herrera and Cecille Solomon hammered a series of 697 and 679 in four games.
