Hasnain, Kashif, Iftequar and Imran score tons: RCA BSF tilt

RIYADH, 25 January — Swashbuckling centuries by Hasnain and Kashif of Carrier, Imran and Iftequar of PIA Young, Masood of Meezan Spices, all-round performance by Tanveer of Friends, Muhammad Owais of Mehran and fine bowling performances by Rashid Ali of Fighters and Rana Nayeem of Young Stars were the highlights of the 4th week matches in the RCA 40 overs Al-Bank Al-Saudi Al-Fransi (BSF) tournament at RCA grounds.

In the "A" division matches Carrier aided by big opening partnership between Syed Hasnian and Kashif M. Khan amassed 315 against Pak-Shaheen at RCA-1 ground.

Kashif made fine 101 with 13 hits to the fence while Syed Hasnain scored elegant 120 with 14 hits to the fence. In reply Pak-Shaheen scored 241 all out. At RCA-2 grounds Saudia Milk got the better of Friends C.C. by 38 runs. Batting First Milkmen made 293 in there stipulated 40 over. Kashif made scintillating 90 with 5 fours and Arif Mahmood made elegant 58 with 3 hits to the fence. Chasing the moderate score inspite of an all round performance by Tanveer (5 for 48 & 71 runs) and fine 69 by Owais, Friends lost the match. In another match at RCA-3, Fighters registered their first win in the tournament by beating Saudi Ericsson in a low- scoring match. Batting first Fighters managed to score160. In reply, Saudi Ericsson could not stand to the bowling of Rashid Ali and were bowled out for 141. Rashid Ali took 6 wickets conceding

Quarterfinal line up for A Division: Saudia Milk will clash with Indo-Pak, Friends takes on Pak-Shaheen, Fighters play Mehran and Saudi Ericsson is pitted against Carrier.

In "B" division matches back to back century 102 with 7 hits to the fence by Muhammad Masood Hussain and fine 62 with 6 fours by Muhammad. Saif helped Meezan Spices to victory over A.S. Young at RCA-8 grounds while at RCA-6 ground Imran Kifayat and Iftequar Ahmed guided PIA Young to comfortable victory against Young Friends.

Imran Kifayat scored brilliant 130 with 10 hits to the fence while iftequar scored unbeaten 101 with five hits to the fence and both were involved in big partnership. Rana Nayeem’s bowling (6 for 41) helped Young Stars beat KFSH & RC at RCA-7 grounds and qualified for quarter finals on run rate, while United Stars got a walk-over from Pathfinders. Quarterfinal lineup for B Division: Young Friends play A.S. Young while SAMBA is pitted against United Star, Al-Eid XI will clash with Meezan Spices while PIA Young will take on Young Stars.
