RIYADH, 12 March — Quality control laboratories under the Ministry of Commerce have rejected 8.72 million tons of foodstuffs and consumer goods shipped from different countries in a single month for violating Saudi standards, the ministry said in a statement.

“Some of the food consignments were rejected as they were not fit for human consumption,” the statement explained.

The absence of certificates of origin and expiry dates were other reasons, it added. (SPA)
