RIYADH, 12 March — A number of residents in Al-Salam District in eastern Riyadh oppose the construction of a mobile phone tower in the middle of a residential area saying that it will have harmful effects on their health. Saudi Telecom Company, however, refuted their claims and said the tower was planned to meet the needs of local residents. “There is no evidence to prove that mobile phone towers cause health problems,” an official at the STC told Arab News, quoting a WHO report.
