ABQAIQ, 17 March — An official of Saudi Aramco’s Industrial Security Department had informed the railway authorities that he had seen the uncoupled freight cars of a Riyadh-bound train on the track two hours before last week’s train accident, sources close to the committee investigating the accident told Arab News. The crash killed three people including driver of the train and injured an Aramco fireman. The Aramco official informed authorities at Abqaiq station, but the latter did not alert the train driver. The failure on the part of the officials at the Abqaiq station led to one of the worst train accidents in the Kingdom.
