RIYADH, 19 March — Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal has donated $1 million to an Arab League fund to help repair the image of Islam following the Sept. 11 attacks, his Kingdom Holdings group said yesterday. The decision follows a call by Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa to support the fund set up to promote the image of Muslims and Arabs and help clear misconceptions about Arabs and Muslims in the West, particularly after the events of Sept. 11. Prince Alwaleed met Amr Moussa on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in New York last month and discussed with him the smear campaign in the Western media against Arabs and Muslims. He informed the secretary-general of his strong belief in Arab unity and shared destiny among the Arab people. He stressed the coordination of Arab efforts on governmental and public levels to stand against such campaigns.
