RIYADH, 29 March — Jhun Soriano the best player of the game scored 21 points and led the Al Jon’s Tailoring victory 95-101 against Kapatiran sa Islam in the Riyadh Basketball League (RBL) 3rd Conference held at the Al Yamamah Hotel.
Coach Herrera made the right decision to start with Reyes, Cano and dela Rosa who dominated the rebounding department that gave them the 10-point advantage at the end of the first quarter. Though KSI’s Badawi and Ryan sank some triple-pointer early in the second quarter it didn’t surpass the consistency of Jhun Soriano who scored 13 points and pushing the lead to 10 points 42-55 at the half. Dibaraton sparked back-to-back basket to help Badawi and Ryan in the third quarter and cut the led to 9 points, 72-81 end of third quarter. The last quarter is characterized by power play and tough defense in both teams as time run out to the finish giving the Al Jon’s the edge to win with 6-point advantage 95-101.
The second game of the day went favorably for Al Arabi team by beating IPSR 90-86. IPSR put up a good game against Al Arabi and finished 15-17, two points behind at the end of the first quarter.
Patawaran led the Al Arabi by scoring 25 points Cunanan and David who added 14 and 13 points respectively backed him. Manuel who led IPSR scored 4 of his 29-point output in the second quarter and a three-pointer to take the led in the last seconds while David sank two charities to lead the game into deadlock 39-all at the half. Third quarter was ended with the second deadlock 58 all. The fourth quarter was played with tough defense and consistency in the field until IPSR gave in to the bigger and experienced Al Arabi Décor’s defense and offense and finished the game 86-90 end of the last quarter.
In the other game of the day Meed Interkey beat Laguna lakers 88-73 and Paradise catering beat Metro Star Cargo 88-73.
