JEDDAH, 12 May — A second group of eight winners selected through an ongoing campaign headed for Cairo yesterday to participate in the MBC TV game show “Who wants to be a millionaire.” The winners, all Saudis, are taking part in a recording of the game show today.
Six of eight winners, who all come from different parts of the Kingdom, were present at Alhamrani-Fuchs Petroleum Saudi Arabia office at Tahlia Street before their departure to Egypt later in the day.
Alhamrani-Fuchs Petroleum Saudi Arabia’s President Ahsan Rashid and Vice President-Marketing & Sales Mezahem H. Basrawi welcomed them and conveyed their best wishes for the contest.
Basrawi said that two of the winners — Abdul Aziz ibn Ali of Riyadh and Munzir Abdul Karim Al Assafi of Jubail — would fly to Cairo directly.
One more group of eight winners will be announced during the remaining part of Fuchs’ three-month promotion, which ends on June 9.
More than 11,000 cans of Super GT motor oil have been fitted with photosensitive devices, which start playing a recording when exposed to light.
According to Basrawi, contestants’ winnings during the MBC’s three special episodes are to be donated to three charity organizations — the Jeddah Center for Autism, a division of Al-Faisaliah Foundation; Al-Emam Association for Charity Services and Cancer Patients Care; and the National Home Health Care Foundation.
“Fuchs will pay contestants 50 percent of their winnings in cash,” he added.
The Fuchs’ first batch of eight winners, whose participation in the game show on April 17 was aired on May 10, had some success, according to Basrawi.
“Two of the participants — Abubakar ibn Ahmed ibn A.R. Attas of Makkah and Hamid Nasir Al-Olayani of Dammam — won SR64,000 each, and a third participant at least managed to win SR1,000,” he said.
