RIYADH, 16 May — The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center has carried out 1,108 bone marrow transplants on adults and children. This has resulted in a saving of SR1.5 billion in hard currency to the Kingdom since KFSH launched the BMT program. Prince Sultan ibn Salman, chairman of the Disabled Children’s Association, and secretary-general of the Supreme Commission for Tourism, attended a function held to celebrate the remarkable achievement by KFSH. According to a press release issued by KFSH, 85 percent of the 605 adults and 90 percent of the 503 children who had undergone marrow transplants were Saudis. (JH)
