JEDDAH, 27 May — Ten female teachers and students were injured, five of them seriously, in two separate accidents in the south of the Kingdom on Saturday. A van carrying the principal, three tutors and two students of the College of Education in Laith, a town in the Makkah region, overturned on the coastal road Saturday morning causing serious injuries to three of them, Al-Watan reported yesterday. The critically injured passengers were admitted at Noor Hospital in Makkah and King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah. Abdul Basit, the van’s driver, said the van overturned when he swerved the vehicle to avoid a head-on collision with a car coming in the opposite direction. In another accident, the deputy principal and three teachers of Khashal Secondary school in Hadth governortate were injured when their vehicle collided with another. The deputy principal and an Egyptian teacher suffered multiple fractures.
