JEDDAH, 17 June — Prince Abdullah, the regent, has directed Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed to come out with effective proposals to ensure overall development of sports in the Kingdom.
“Prince Abdul Majeed will study ways and means to ensure the development of sports in general and youth activities and football in particular,” the regent said in a cable message to the governor. He wanted a quick report on the sports situation in the country to take immediate steps to revamp the sector.
Prince Abdul Majeed can take the help of sports experts as well as businessmen to carry out necessary studies and come out with effective proposals. The move aims at improving the Kingdom’s reputation in world sports.
Prince Abdullah has sent another message to Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, chief of the Youth Welfare Presidency, urging him to present his views and ideas to promote sports in the country.
Prince Sultan and two other presidency officials will coordinate with Prince Abdul Majeed.
