Good for you for speaking out. In some respects I have followed the same path to enlightenment as you. For 35 years I had no clue — however, now I see the light. After Sept. 11, I began researching to find out why the US is so hated. I was astounded to discover the TRUE history of the Israelis and the Palestinians. So, for months now, I've been writing to my government representatives, and informing others, and writing to the newspapers. I've discovered to my relief that there are many out there who feel the same as me. But, they are remaining quiet — the fear of an "anti-Semitic" backlash is quite strong.

The only way to turn the tide is massive truth. For every holocaust museum, there needs to be a museum of occupation across the street. Map makers should be sued for including Palestinian territory as part of Israel. The Palestinians need to sue the British and United States Government in court for giving their land away without compensation. They are simple tribal people like the American Indians. They don't plot how there are going to take power and make money every day of their lives. We should be on their side, not on the side of Israel, just like we were on the side of the blacks in South Africa.

Every time the United States reluctantly coughs up a measly $500 million for the AIDS fight, we need to point out that we give Israel $ 4 BILLION a year to kill more Palestinians. Unfortunately, our elected leaders are controlled via campaign contributions by pro-Israel special interest groups not voters. Seventy percent of foreign aid goes to Israel. Think of it 70%!! For what??? They have the highest foreign reserve per capita in the world. They are a wealthy country. The air, $4 billion a year would pay for health insurance for uninsured Americans. This is what the public needs to hear.

Letter writing is pointless. Legal action is what counts. I did not know what really went on in the Middle East until this year. I like you, was shocked. I was duped in supporting Israel for 50 years because of the holocaust. NO MORE!!!!!! They are a country of 4 million people whose only mission in life is to kill Palestine and steal territory. What have they contributed to mankind in 50 years?? Nothing!! They are experts at creating guilt. The public needs to know this. Every time our government fails to pass an education bill, the public needs to be reminded how much we give every year to the Israel military. Every time we cut food stamp spending, the public needs to be reminded how much we give to Israel. This is not money to help children or starving people. This is money to build a bigger war machine.
