JEDDAH, 23 August — Afghan Ambassador to the Kingdom Mohammed Anwar said that he will give special priority to trace and repatriate Saudi nationals reported missing in Afghanistan, Okaz reported.

He said he will coordinate between Riyadh and Kabul in this regard.

However, he said he did not have a precise number of Saudis missing in Afghanistan.

The newly appointed ambassador said he will work hard to strengthen Saudi-Afghan relations.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai was very keen to reactivate ties in the political, economic and commercial fields, he said.

Afghanistan reopened its embassy and consulate in the Kingdom earlier this week.

It was closed in September last year after Saudi Arabia severed ties with the then Taleban regime in Kabul.

The Kingdom reopened its mission in Kabul in February this year almost five months after closing it.
