JEDDAH, 28 October — Sudan yesterday extradited to the Kingdom a Saudi man charged with trying to hijack a plane en route to Jeddah. Saudi security services "received Saudi national Adel Nasser Ahmed Al-Faraj who attempted to hijack a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane," an Interior Ministry spokesman was quoted by the Saudi Press Agency as saying. Faraj, 35, was extradited in accordance with "security agreements and existing cooperation between the two countries," the spokesman said. Faraj was overpowered by security personnel aboard the plane that he tried to hijack with a pistol after takeoff from Khartoum on Oct. 15. According to media reports, Faraj visited Sudan three times in the past six months and stayed in the same hotel for a total of about three months. He has denied any relationship or sympathy with Al-Qaeda or any other extremist group.
