Mohsin Alavi’s new book launched

JEDDAH, 8 November — Literary groups, Idara-e-Sahab and Dabistan-e-Jigar, organized a program here recently to mark the launching of “Waraftagi” a collection of poems by noted Jeddah-based Pakistani writer Mohsin Alavi. Alavi is the president of Pakistan Writers Forum and Daerah-e-Adab Jeddah.

Consul General of Pakistan Tahir Iqbal Butt presided over the ceremony. Sahebzadah Qari Abdul Basit a well-known religious scholar was also present.

Asad Muhammad Khan spoke about the activities of Idara-e-Sahab. Qari Asif recited verses from the Holy Qur’an and one of the participants Nawaz Janjuaa recited a poem by Mohsin Alavi.

Zafar Mehdi, Habib Siddiqi, Mukhtar Ali, Ahmed Saud Qasmi and Mujahid Syed read their poems. Those who spoke on the occasion were Consul General Iqbal Butt, Abdul Basit, Dr. Hussain Ahmed Paracha, Naseem Sahar, Naeem Bazaidpuri, Qamar Haider Qamar and Ather Abbasi of Dabistan-e-Jigar.

Mohsin Alavi also recited his poem. The program was conducted by Ahmed Saud Qasmi.
