Limvudocie-A, Detasad-STC are Masters Cup champs

RIYADH, 27 December 2002 — Limvudocie-A and the Detasad-STC teams bagged the premier cup at the close of the Association of Filipino Tennis Players (AFTP) Masters Cup 2002 team tennis tournament, ABC and B/C Categories respectively in thrilling actions at the Al Yamama Hotel Sports Complex along Old Airport Road, Riyadh.

The victorious Limvudocie-A team mentored by Herbie Trazo and Ed Galvez with members Benjie Ortiz, Ferdie de Guzman, Lino Samaniego, Roger Ablazo, Fred Ringor, Peter Manalo, Thad Flores, Paul Pagulayan, Fidel Ulan and Robert Angeles were the proud champions in the ABC Category. Saudi Electric Company’s Powerlines team, managed by Godo Sarmiento and Wilfredo Nicolas grabbed the first runner-up crown with the support of Gener Marasigan, Rene Andes, George Veranga, Ed Abiera, Andy Poncio, Anthony Dumlao, Clark Minoza, Serge Arato, Mar Marimon and Robert Drequito. Passing Shots team of Fidel Lozano and Jimmy Perfas came in as the 2nd runner-up with members Richard Villanueva, Abe Buen, Hibshi Ahamat, Richard Lucardie, Lito Anolacion, Rene Suarez, Silver Tabangcura, Fidel Cecogo, Faizal Ziauddin and Prophetiso de Leon, the playing Team Manager and team sponsor.

D‚Racqueteers-A group of Lito Ladio and Ting Banday placed 3rd runner-up with members Manny Berro, Darwin Suson, Benny dela Cruz, Edgar Santos, Allan Abrilla, Paul Praga, Orly Patricio, Eddie Carzon, Nilo Eugenio and Lito Hoyumpa. In the B/C Category, the Detasad-STC team grabbed the championship crown through the efforts of team members Albert Amora, Sonny Epe, Marlon Aliasas, Ramon Montales, Danny Villanueva, Joseph Nicdao, James Capucian, Ronnie Bigtas, Rene Andes, Bernie Pangan, Jun Abana and team captain Fortz Bernalez. Aces & Faults team of Noli Orejas and Majed Shaltaf got the 1st runner-up trophy.

Team members include Feras Shaltaf, Rolly Torres, Roland dela Cruz, Rommel Dimapilis, Bob Fiel, Danny Collantes,Muhammad Serajuddin, Felino Bautista, Jaime Balala and Nilo Kong.

The Nilo and Beca Palo sponsored DQ Hunks 2 Team finished 2nd runner-up with the full commitment of players Romy Cawaling, Billy Pangatpatan, Rene Lacaba, Ferdie Roc, Rey Repollo, Tom Ame, Jimmy Pastrana, Isagani Toria, Robert Miranda, Arley Leyes, Bert Oliva and Team Captain Cesar Unabia.

D‚Racqueteers-B group of Ting Banday and Jigs Garcia landed as 3rd runner-up with members Jhun Cantos, Jessie Hermano, Allan Ponzones, Lito Ladio, John Valencia, Darwin Suson, Ramil Ramos, Ronnie Aro, Herman Honrado and Camar Pancho. 4th runner-up were the Limvudocie-B group of Dong Elic with members Rudy De Guzman, Juhun Mojica, Sonny Marilla, Renato Gomez, Allan Quitoveria, Allen Dela Cruz, Noli Villasis, Herbie Trazo, Roger Ablazo, Fred Ringor and Sinki Ante. The Al-Salam Fighters team of Robert Romero and Dante Posas with members Boy Constantino, Lolito Ortiz, Omar Madani, Al Puse, Roland Pena, Boggs Mendoza, Jimmy Isla, Eliezur Caoili, Allan Abrilla, and Paul Praga brought home the 5th runner-up trophy.
