RIYADH, 24 January 2003 — Mehran Spices and Al-Eid posted easy victories in Premier League while KFSH & RC and Al-Jazirah won in Junior League matches in third round matches of the Fuchs 40-over cricket tournament at Al-Sulay grounds.
At RCA-4 ground, Mehran Spices aided by Jawad Shah’s unbeaten 117 scored a 5 wicket victory over Pak-Shaheen.
Arshad Mahboob 57, Adnan Malik 29 and Muhammad ably supported him. Owais 23. Earlier Pak-Shaheen posted 264 for 6 in their allotted overs. Rashid scored 102 with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Adnan contributed a fine 72 to the Pak-Shaheen total. Else where at RCA-1 ground, Adnan (156 - 8 X 4’s) was in dazzling form for Al-Eid XI against Young Star.
He along with Asif Zaki (92-7 X 4’s & 2 X 6’s) took Al-Eid to a commanding 337 for 8 in their allotted overs. In reply, Young Stars could not cope with Sami’s bowling (5/36) and were all out for 216. Nawaz topscored for Young Stars with 70.
In Junior League matches at RCA-6 ground, Zeeshan Ahmed and Saad Masood guided Al-Jazirah to a resounding 10-wicket victory over National Battery Company (NBC).
Zeeshan Ahmed scored an unbeaten 58 while Saad Masood contributed an unbeaten 91. Earlier, NBC were all out for 161. Salman Yakoob of NBC grabbed 6 wickets conceding 39 runs in his spell of 8 overs.
At RCA-7 ground, KFSH & RC recorded their first win beating new entrants Avadh XI by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Avadh XI scored 174 all out with Ahmed topscoring with 36 and Hassan contributing 30 the total. KFSH & RC’s Mansoor Ahmed and Azher Hussain took 3 wickets apiece conceding 30 runs each. In reply KFSH & RC romped home in 23 overs with Azher Hussain contributing unbeaten 47. The other scorer’s for KFSH & RC were Naimathullah 33, Abdul Raheem 26 and Naser Abbasi 34.
