SANAA, 12 February 2003 — A Saudi Arabian Airlines plane with 429 passengers and 17 crew members aboard struck an electricity pole after landing at Sanaa airport overnight, causing no injuries, an airport official said yesterday.
The Boeing-747, arriving from Jeddah, was landing when it swerved off the runway, the SABA news agency quoted the official as saying.
“After a smooth landing on the airport’s runway last night, the plane deviated nearly 27 meters out of the path,” the official said, adding that “the pilot failed to follow the instructions of the ground guide.”
The jet sustained minor damage to its left wing, he said. (DPA/AFP)
