JEDDAH, 3 April 2003 — Jeddah Municipality has caught 744 illegal African immigrants in the past four days, Al-Watan reported. The chief of environmental health, Waleed Al-Tunisi, said the crackdown was aimed at keeping tourist areas clean without trash being strewn by the illegal immigrants who scavenge in the large garbage containers for reusable and salable items.
