JEDDAH, 11 April 2003 — Youngsters in the Kingdom are reckless and unhealthy, a study has revealed.
A survey conducted by the Department of Medicine at King Abdul Aziz University showed that as many as 27.5 percent of males and 28 percent of females in the Kingdom are obese. It is known that obesity in youngsters can result in problems such as heart trouble and diabetes.
The study, quoted in Al-Watan newspaper, also showed that 20.3 percent of male students and 3-9 percent of female students smoke, starting on average at the age of 15.
