Kalayaan Cup All-Filipino Bowling Tournament Opens

RIYADH, 30 May 2003 — Fostering friendship and emphasizing the importance of unity has been on the top of Ambassador Bahnarim Guinomla’s mind. He along with Jun Arenas, finance officer and attache and Carmelita Hidalgo, cultural attache of the Philippine Embassy helped launch the 2003 Kalayaan Cup All-Filipino Bowling Tournament last May 15, 2003 at the Al-Khozama Hotel Bowling Center. The awarding ceremony is set for June 13, 2003, at the Philippine Embassy.

The Kalayaan Cup bowlfest which is open to all male and female bowlers has been organized for the very first time by the bowling organizers in the region which is composed of Overseas Filipino Workers Bowlers of Riyadh (OFWBR), Riyadh Bowling Club (RBC), Filipino Overseas Bowlers of Riyadh (FOBR), STC Bowling League, Monday Night Bowling League, Riyadh Ladies Bowling League, Friday Family Bowling League, Bukabin, Thursday Family Bowling League, RKH Bowling League, Wednesday Family Bowling League, Fesscor, R-500 Group, Interbank Tenpin Bowlers, Tuesday Family Bowling League, Besa Friday Bowling League, and the Unicap.

The sponsors and donors of the 2003 Kalayaan Cup All Filipino Bowling Tournament are the Philippine National Bank (PNB) through its Country Manager Usman Navarro, House of Donuts.

Meanwhile, the Overseas Filipino Workers Bowlers of Riyadh (OFWBR) in cooperation with the Riyadh Bowling Club (RBC) through its bowling manager, Rommel Romano and supported by Shakur Kamlian is now gearing-up for the preparation of the “Jimmy Medina One-Day Farewell Bowling Tournament”. Medina dubbed as the legend bowler in the Kingdom will be leaving the Kingdom for good by end of June 2003.
