Drug Trafficker Executed

JEDDAH, 14 June 2003 — A Pakistani convicted of drug trafficking was executed in the central town of Quwaieyya yesterday, an Interior Ministry statement said. It said Sharbat Khan Zakan was executed for trying to smuggle an unspecified quantity of hashish into the Kingdom.

Saudi authorities in Jeddah recently foiled a move to smuggle 2,200 kg of hashish into the country. The drug bust was carried out by customs officials at Jeddah Islamic Port.
